Abu Dhabi is an interesting mix of spectacular Western-style architecture and

modern renditions of Islamic traditions. This isn't really a contrast of old and new,
since both are newly built. The contrast can be found, however. A good place to
find tradition is in the vegetable souk.

Abu Dhabi city is one of the most modern cities in the world with broad
boulevards, highrises, apartment buildings and busy shops. This wealthy
city has fascinating culture and provides fantastic opportunities to the
tourists.

Qasr al-Hosn:
Also known as white or old fort, this palace is the oldest historic building
of Abu Dhabi. It is located next to the Cultural Foundation in Zayed the
First Street, in the centre of Abu Dhabi. This fort remained the royal palace
and the seat of government until 1966.
Khalifa Park:
The best place in Abu Dhabi for relaxation, fun and entertainment. Located
at eastern ring road, behind the old airport of Abu Dhabi. The park has
everything for all types of visitors. It has beautifully landscaped grand
avenue, central plaza for meeting, maritime museum, time tunnel ride,
monorail, Amphitheatre, party hall, women & children’s garden, theme
park, mosque and Islamic garden also.

The Emirates Palace Hotel:

This wonderful hotel is one of the Abu Dhabi's most popular landmarks
and the venue for many of the city's cultural activities. The hotel is
equipped with huge conference centre and landscaped gardens with lawns,
palm trees and fountains. The non-residents tourists can also visit the hotel
and access public areas of the hotel without charge.
Al Maqtaa Fort:
It is a 200-year old fort that can be watched while approaching the Al
Maqtaa Bridge towards Abu Dhabi Island. This place has been used as a
watch house against invading bandits at the time. The fort has been
undergone several renovations with the time and it is one of the valuable
pieces of the emirate’s history.

The Corniche:
The picturesque area of the city wellknown for its fountains, park-lined
coastal boulevard, that skirts the city and architecturally modern buildings
that face the sea. Watch flower-filled gardens and modern highrises on foot
from east to west or enjoy a ride on a traditional wooden dhow and
experience the changing vistas of the scenic skyline, parks and fountains.
Petroleum Exhibition:
The permanent exhibition of photographs and interactive displays,
showcasing the discovery of the 'black gold' and subsequent development
of the region. One can watch here, how oil wealth carried out the drastic
changes in the life of Abu Dhabi.
Address: The Corniche, near the fire station
Heritage Village:
Located at the Breakwater in the middle of Abu Dhabi, Heritage village is
designed as a living museum. It exhibits Bedouin tradition and lifestyle
detailing a variety of local traditions, as well as those of other cultures
employed in agriculture, fishing and trading.
It features tents, courtyard houses, an ancient irrigation system, workshops
where craftsmen ply their trades, a museum and much more.
Lulu Island:
Lulu Island is located just opposite to Corniche and easily accessible by
boat. This large man-maid island is ideal spot for short weekend trips. Take
a dip in a pool or in beach and have a treat in restaurants, coffee shops and
cafeterias on the island.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque:

The third largest mosque in the world. This mosque is named after Sheikh
Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who was the founder and the first President of
the United Arab Emirates. He is also buried there. The mosque acquires
large area between Mussafah Bridge and Maqta Bridge. Non-Muslims
cannot enter mosques in UAE but Sheikh Zayed Mosque will be an
exception.
Bateen Shipyard:
At Bateen Shipyard, watch the traditional Arabic shipbuilding process
without using new age materials or modern techniques. Also visit Dhow
harbour and enjoy regular sailing races.
