You harbor the horrors of my life's aloneness,
I rescued you from the thoughts of canuscide,
just as I wanted to be saved from my own self deluded makepeace silence,
trodding ever onward toward the hallowed halls of peaceful slumber.

I retreat into your life when my world scares me,
take solace in the joy of your smiling face,
tender bites my arm we tussle, struggle to control each other,
content to vent our aggressions on your puppy toys.

Tennis balls, Frisbee, anything to cast outward from ourselves,
like the missive worries that haunt our baleful existence,
always to be returned by you, or me, recounted for another
warring facet of our pompous pathetic attempts to subdue one another.

I am your life outside the house and yard which confines your body,
taking your soul on rides of joy, throughout the streets of humanity,
while you tuck my spirit under your coat, and keep me warm,
on your moonlit trips to the glorified haunts of nighttime wanders.

You have become the third extension of my splintered self,
your personality transfixes me to read your postured mood,
whether brooding, or intemperate, needing to please, yet seeking pleasure,
I endure your tireless need for alternating sleep or stimulation.

My days brighten as I pass under the carapace that borders your world,
stepping into your sphere and resting my worried mind in the briefcase on the floor,
alone for awhile in your presence, tending to your quiet needs,
ever seeking to divine my peace from your care.

Our bond transcends the mutual reality in which we thrive,
carries on amongst the mixture of the swirling souls,
uniting to complete the shattered structure of a child,
vainly attempting to cauterize the wounds created by an elder.

No harm will be done to you, as long as my heart skips cheerily along,
the stoneswept path of life's rude indignation,
quietly awaiting each task in hope of certitude and understanding,
you are the loyal joy I lost, I am your entrusted caretaker, once duped to forsake another.
