WHAT A RELIEF
With RHP Stephen Strasburg removed due to injury in the third inning and Wednesdays
contest reaching the 11th frame, the Nationals bullpen delivered 8.2 innings of work, its most
since July 17 vs. PIT (11.0 IP)...Nine relievers combined to throw a bullpen season-high 167
pitches, with seven of the nine posting scoreless appearances.
The Nationals enter the meat of their September schedule possessing the best bullpen
ERA in the National League (3.29), a mark that sits just behind the Kansas City Royals
for the best in MLB (3.14)...Washingtons relievers have also combined to allow the fewest
home runs in the National League (39).
Washingtons pen has been incredibly stingy when inheriting runners, allowing just 25.7
percent of all IR to cross the plate, second in MLB only to SFGs 21.1 percent.
TWO HITS A NIGHT IS THE NEW NORMAL
Nationals INF/OF Trea Turner posted his 25th multi-hit game of the season on Wednesday,
giving him at least two hits in precisely half of the Major League games hes played in this season (50)...Among players whove appeared in 50 games or fewer, Turner has nearly double
the amount of multi-hit games than CIN 2B Jose Peraza (14) in second place...Now batting
.346 this season, Turners average, per the Elias Sports Bureau, is the highest at any point by
a Major-League rookie at least 200 at-bats into a season in nearly three years -- since LAD
OF Yasiel Puig was hitting .344 through Sept. 8, 2013.
Turner was named the NL Rookie of the Month for August, the first monthly award of any
kind for him, and the fourth Rookie of the Month award bestowed upon a WSH player in
club history (2005-present): Harper (May & Sept./Oct. 2012) & Ryan Church (May, 2005).
DIVISIONAL DOMINANCE
The Nationals intra-divisional record, 42-18, is the best of any team in the Major Leagues
within a teams own division...Additionally, the Nationals 42 victories are 12 more than any
other NL East team has against a fellow divisional opponent (NYM, 2nd: 30).
The 2014 Nationals posted 45 wins against NL East clubs, the most of any team in club
history (2005-pres.), but the 2016 Nationals are currently well outpacing the 2014 teams
winning percentage (.592 in 2014, .700 in 2016)...The Chicago Cubs are second in intradivisional victories this season with 38 (38-18) against NL Central clubs.

DUSTY BAKER

Nationals manager Dusty Baker was named the sixth field manager in Nationals history on
Nov. 3, 2015. A three-time National League Manager of the Year (1993, 1997, 2000), Baker
is the 17th-winningest manager in baseball history. Entering the season with a 1,671-1,504
career record, Baker is just the 17th manager in MLB history to win 1,700 games (1,753-1,561).
Bakers record slots him second in the win column among active managers behind only San
Franciscos Bruce Bochy (No. 16 all-time, 1,776 victories). Jim Leyland is No. 15 on the alltime list (1,769). Connie Mack holds the all-time MLB record for managerial victories with 3,731.
