had the other guy to kickaround.Come to think of it, what wasthe name of the other guy?Oh, yeah: Steve Halvorson.Ending the era of two presi-dents named Steve is theaim of frivolities planned forthis weekend: The doubledebunk celebration sched-uled Saturday night, June 5,
at Bilbo’s Bar & Grill, 8699
W. Charleston Blvd.Debunk chairman Ken Coxsays he needs an RSVP
if
you haven’t done it, do it.
And he wants everyone to beon time for the 5 p.m. open-ing ceremony.
We’d better make sure we’ll
there. This is almost a once-in-a-lifetime event. After all,
Ken’s been planning it a
long time: More than a year,in fact.

2010 Super-Build was the
best I’ve attended in three
years of going. It also was themost satisfying and gratifying Rotary Moment for me.Corazon Super-Build, in which teams of Rotarianserect houses for families in a deprived Mexican village, is the official District 5300 Internationalproject.
Our club has participated for four years. I’ve at-
tended three, as I said. Tom and Robin Novotny andKen Cox have made all four.Ken can really swing a hammer, and is qualified tobe a lead builder, so he is relied upon heavily.Robin and I painted, and this year DG Tom laiddown his hammer to strut around as the properly inspired royalty he is. We built a house for 12 family members living in anadjacent shack, with an outhouse a few feet fromthe blanket-door covering. Four will move into thenew Corazon house.Grandma gave a heart-felt thank you, then wentaround and shook every hand with a kiss to all the workers.Lucky I was filming or I might have shed a tear or two. She was just awesome. Our photographic tour on these pages includes a view of Tom an Ken taking in the view from our overnight accommodation on the ocean at SanDiego, then on to Tecate. We were a few milessouth I think.Rotarians from our district built two other houses, one by the South Pasadena club with help from afew Pahrump Valley members. Tom
on the phone, of course
and Ken relax before work.
