can a bailiff threaten you with prison if it has been to court.

Hi Kevin,
normally a bailiff will accept a payment plan if it this the FIRST visit from them. What they do is called a "walking possesion order" where they note everything they would take. You sign the form and if you keep to the payment plan then all is well.

If you fail to keep to the payment plan then they will come back and CAN legally break in to your home to take the items listed on the walking possesion order.

Best thing is NOT to let them in at all.

the bailiff came and asked me for 280 pounds , he wanted all the money there and then , he wouldnt take instalments , is this right
