Well hello fellas. It is that time ofyear again.Southern HiBearnation is onlyweeks away and the SH10committee is working day andnight to make sure that everythingis up and ready for you tocelebrate 8 days of furry fun.
Hopefully you have all visitedwww.southernhibearnation.comtocheck out all the events. We areall very excited about what wehave put together for you. I willtouch on a couple of the eventsjust to get you warmed up andready.This year we have tried to changethings up just a little and givenyou some events in differentlocations across Melbourne. Ofcourse, the Laird hotel in Gipps st,Abbotsford is Vicbears’ home, andso most of our events are heldthere. For the first time everthough, we will be taking youacross the river to St Kilda to Bar362 for Meatrack. This year theteam at Bar 362 will be workinghard to make sure we are allliberally primed and we will besupplying some yummy food to fillyou up. We are really excited tohave Mr Rob Camm back toMelbourne to be your host for thenight. Rob has been involved withVicbears for many years and weare really excited to have him onstage and hosting the night. Wewill also have Melbourne’s ownbear band, Kodiak performingand the night will be topped offwith the wonderful Adam Richard.Of course we will have this year’scontestants up on stage for you allto meet and to pick your favouritebear, cub or daddy. So comealong and check them andeveryone else out at Meatrackat Bar 362.
Next we have the Australianpremier viewing of Bear City onSaturday 19
th
June. Bear City hasbeen produced by the makers of“Another Gay Movie” and followsa group of bears in a New Yorkapartment block getting ready fora big night out. This is a ticketedevent so make sure you book nowso you don’t miss out. We haveput a food and drink packagetogether for you so it will be anafternoon of fun and games at theSun Theatre in Yarraville.
An optional event for you thisyear replaces our traditionalMelbourne city walk. Bears on Iceis exactly what you think... ice-skating for bears! We will bemeeting up at 12.30 at theIcehouse foyer at the docklandsfor a two-hour session on ice socome along for a fun afternoon.You will even have time to dosome last minute shopping atharbour town before or after theevent. This of course is anoptional event and is not includedin your event pass.
Now getting back to thebeginning, the week starts withFUR on Sunday 13 June at theLaird hotel... It should be a greatone, so get your dancing shoes on!Bear Bingo is on Tuesday the 15
th
and run by the fantastic LaurieLane, and of course our famousUnderBear party is at the Laird onWednesday the 16th. Thursdaythe 17
th
is UnderBear recovery atWet on Wellington, so pop in fora swim or a spa.Topping off the week we have theMr Australasia bear competition2010 at the Laird Hotel. It shouldbe huge, so don’t forget to get your passes to ensure that you getpriority entry into the Laird. SH10finishes up with Bear BBQ inFairfield and Roundup at the PeelHotel... One thing to rememberthis year is that Roundup is on forthe night... The guys at the Peellove having the bears there andhave asked us to stay for thenight, so this year we will kick offthe evening at 5pm and runthrough the night with twofantastic DJ’s entertaining usthrough to the wee hours of themorning so plan for a fantasticnight at Roundup. Again this yearthe wonderful guys at Mannhausare sponsoring Roundup. Pauland Richard are putting togethersome fantastic prizes for us togive away over the night so getready for me to grab hold of abear or two from the crowd. Younever know what you are going towin...
