(VIA FACSIMILE WITH CERTIFIED LETTER TO FOLLOW)Mr. John Gregory PalmerNew York, NY 100117 June 2010Avis Budget Group6 Sylvan WayParsippany, NJ 07054Facsimile: (918) 660-7169Dear Sir or Madam:I recently rented a Budget Truck for a move across town. Because I was placing some items instorage, I compared two rates – a one-way rental for $257 and a “local” rental for $185. Iaccidentally made the one-way rental reservation, and later called your customer service centerand successfully changed the reservation to “local.” This reservation was never confirmed inwriting as your system clearly indicates that confirmation e-mails always reflect the originalreservation and do not take into account changes made to the reservation. I called your customerservice center several days before my pick-up date and successfully confirmed reservationreference number 50.

When I arrived at your point-of-sale location at 1667 Rental Depot Inc., 3831 43
rd
Street, LongIsland City, NY, 11101 on 30 May 2010, I was told that the price for my reservation was $399, plus a$300 deposit, for a total of $799. I immediately disputed this price, and was told by your counterrepresentative (George) to call your reservations hotline to resolve the situation.Upon calling the Budget reservations line, I was told that I indeed had an active reservation for$184.99. The phone representative said he would connect me with customer service, whichpromptly disconnected my call as your customer service center was closed. I called yourreservations line again, and had yet another phone representative speak directly with Georgeregarding the price discrepancy. Neither representative was empowered to honor the price that was showing up at your reservations center at that very moment. After working with your representatives for well over an hour, with my movers waiting at myapartment for me to arrive with the truck, George offered me a truck for $330. I agreed underduress, as there seemed to be no other option.During the first week of June, I contacted your customer service center with full expectation that the price discrepancy would be resolved. Your customer service center says they have no record of either the $257 quote or the $185 quote. This is unfortunate, as I expected this situation to have aneasy resolution.
