MURPHTOBER
Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy, whose 2015 Postseason performance was one for the ages,
continues to come through in October...Murphy tied Game 4 with a two-run single in the seventh inning, giving him six RBI in this series and 17 career Postseason RBI in just 18 games...
His 17 RBI rank second all-time in 18 Postseason games, behind only John Valentin's 19
from 1995-1999, and ahead of Hank Aaron (1957-69) and Jose Bautista's (2015-16) 16.
Murphy has reached base safely in all 18 career Postseason games he's played.
Murphy has done a significant amount of his Postseason damage against the Dodgers,
THE REGULAR-SEASON SERIES
with 11 of his 17 RBI coming in the nine games he's played vs. LAD.
The Dodgers hold the edge in the all-time series since baseball returned to the District in 2005,
44-27...The Nationals took the 2014 season series from LA, 4-2, but fell in the 2015 version,
TOO LEGIT TO QUIT
2-4, and in the 2016 series, 1-5.
Nationals LF Jayson Werth went 3-for-4 in Game 3, with a double, a home run, a walk, two
RBI and two runs scored, helping propel the Nationals to the series lead...The home run,

LOBY LONGBALL
With the Nationals' trailing, 2-0, in the fourth inning on Sunday, C Jose Lobaton crushed
a three-run home run to left field to put Washington up, 3-2 -- a lead from which they never
looked back...It was the second career Postseason home run for Lobaton, who hit a walk-off
homer for the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the 2013 ALDS against Boston and has now left
the yard with two of his four career Postseason knocks.
According to Elias, Lobaton is just the second catcher in MLB Postseason history to hit a
lead-assuming home run with his team trailing by at least two runs...He joins Jim Hegan,
who hit a three-run homer in Game 5 of the 1948 World Series for Cleveland, turning a 4-2
deficit into a 5-4 lead...Cleveland won the title in six games.
DIVISION CHAMPS!
The Nationals clinched the 2016 National League East title on September 24 at PNC Park...
After a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Nationals watched the conclusion of the New York
Mets loss to the Philadelphia Phillies before popping the champagne.
No team in baseball won more games against its own division than the Nationals, who went
51-25 against their fellow NL East foes...Washingtons 51 intra-divisional wins are the most
for any team in club history (2005-present), and their .671 winning percentage vs. the NL
East is nearly 80 points higher than any other Nationals iteration (2014: .592).
The NL East crown is the sixth division title Nationals Manager Dusty Baker has led his
clubs to, joining the 1997 & 2000 Giants, 2003 Cubs, 2010 & 2012 Reds.
Baker joined Billy Martin and former Nationals skipper Davey Johnson as the only managers in MLB history to lead four different clubs to the Postseason.
The Nationals were crowned NL East champions for the third time in the last five years,
earning the title with an average of 15.8 wins per month and a 95-67 (.586) final regularseason record, the second-best mark in the NL (Cubs: 103-58, .640) and tied with Texas
for the second-best record in Major League Baseball...Since 2012, Washingtons three
division titles are tied for the second-most in MLB behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (5).

MIKE RIZZO
The architect of the Washington Nationals, President of Baseball Operations and General
Manager Mike Rizzo has overseen the organizations swift ascension into a perennial contender...The first hire made by the Lerner Family after assuming control of the franchise in July
of 2006, Rizzo set out to build the Nationals into a playoff team by first addressing the Nationals farm system -- building it into a powerhouse feeder system for the big league team -- and
then keyed the organizations transition to success at the Major League level...Through the
MLB First-Year Player Draft, deft trades, and key free-agent signings, Rizzo turned the former
100-loss team into one with five consecutive winning seasons and three division titles, and
that success is borne out in the numbers: Since 2012 only one team in baseball has collected
more MLB victories than Washingtons 458 (St. Louis Cardinals, 1st: 461)...Washington also
has a +509 run differential in this stretch.
