A Room With a View

My heart holds many rooms

some ancient and old, with tattered pictures

dangling on discolored walls

the memories still linger

but the doors remain solidly closed

and the keys are rusted, cracked and worn

outside are narrow hallways

that lead to an endless nowhere

yet still have become part of my home

There are quainter rooms

where the spaces fill lightly with daily visitors

familiar sounds and joyful voices

that echo against painted walls of bright colors

they brush my heart with their gentle strokes

But somewhere deep lies the grandest room of all

where the view inspires my longings

and spacious windows are always held open

to welcome the warmth of a hopeful tomorrow

it is this the room i treasure the most

for it has always led to all others

and has kept the walls from crumbling down

its foundations held strongly by faith and vision

with pillars to protect the essence of my soul
