Class held in VC Chatroom - check the Yahoo Groups site (Calendar) for
the URL.

Supplies:
1 level 2 paper packet
Stickers, stamps and ink to match
Ruler & pencil
BIA coil and machine or 3 rings
Make 3-4 envelopes (see step 1 for directions)

1) Creating Envelopes (4.25 x 5.5)

a) practice with scrap piece of cardstock first


b) Using a piece of Cardstock, that is 6.75" wide x 10.75" long
c) Random Stamp one side if you choose to.
d) Turn paper so the 10 ¾" length is aligned with the side of your
trimmer
e) Score at 3" and 7.5". (dotted lines)
f) Turn paper so the 6.75" length is aligned with the side of your
trimmer
g) Score at 0.5 inches from each edge (dotted Lines)
h) Cut off the four shaded areas

i) OPTIONAL
i) use corner rounder to round top corners of flap closure and
envelopes side flaps.
ii) Note the guard has been taken off the punch so you can snip the
side corners.
iii) You can also choose to do a scalloped border for the top flap

j) Fold Flaps A in towards the center of the envelope


k) Add adhesive to BOTTOM FLAP edge
l) Bottom flap is smaller than your side panels so the adhesive will not
show.
m) Fold up Bottom Flap and adhere to side flaps
2) Punching your holes

a) Please read Assembling your Book, prior to punching your holes


b) As you create your pages punch your holes along the spine of your
pages as you go.
c) Envelopes: punch you holes prior to placing the journaling card
inside
d) On the smaller pages alternate punching the holes from the top or
the bottom
e) Of you are using your Bind it all, follow the directions of the BIA to
assemble your book
f) If you are using D-Rings or Circle Rings

i) You will need 3 rings


ii) Using one of the 5.5” x 6.5” piece of solid cardstock as a guide

(1) Along the 6.5” side,


(2) punch a hole 1” from the bottom and top
(3) Punch a hole at 3.25”

3) Front Cover

a) Supplies

i) Use Envelope of Choice


ii) 1.5” x 5.5” strip of solid cardstock (red)
iii) 2” x 3” piece of solid cardstock (black)
iv) 1.75” x 2.75” piece of neutral cardstock (white)
v) 4” x 5.25” piece of neutral cardstock (insert into envelope)

b) Flap Side is the Front Cover


c) Adhere 1.5” x 5.5” strip of solid cardstock, 0.25 inches from the
bottom edge of envelope
d) 2” x 3” solid cardstock (black)

i) On wrong side, lightly draw a line down the center


ii) Place adhesive on right half of rectangle and adhere centered on
flap, so that the black cardstock overlaps onto the red cardstock

e) Center white 1.25” x 2.75” cardstock onto black rectangle


f) Insert the neutral 4” x 5.25” piece of cardstock into envelope
i) His can be used for journaling or additional pictures

4) Back of Envelope

a) Adhere a 3.5” x 4” piece of cardstock, 0.5 inches from top and


centered
b) Attach a 3 x 3.5” photo
c) Decorate with stickers or as desired

a) 5.5” x 6.5” piece of solid cardstock, decorate as you wish

6) Page 5-8
a) Creating the base

i) 9.5” x 6.5” piece of solid cardstock


ii) Score 4” from edge, fold inward
iii) Create a tab at the other edge

(1) Draw a light pencil line 1 inch from edge


(2) Draw a line 0.25 inches from top and 2.5 inches from the bottom
(3) Cut off the top and bottom shaded areas
(4) Optional: Round corner of tab

b) Fold left side towards the right

i) Page 5: Adhere a piece of 4” x 6.5” slid cardstock, decorate as


desired

c) Open Folder

i) Pages 6 & 7
ii) Use 2 pieces of 3” by 5” cardstock for journaling or photo base
iii) Use 1.5” by 3” cardstock for Title Journaling

d) Close Folder (backside)

i) Page 8
ii) Title:

(1) 0.75” x 2.5” Cardstock


iii) 0.5” x 1.25” cardstock
iv) Photo Base:

(1) 3.5” x 5.75” cardstock (black)


(2) 3” x 5.25” cardstock (red)
(3) 2.5 x 4.75 photo

a) Using another envelope

i) Flap Up
ii) Cover half of the flap with a 3” x 5” cardstock
iii) Journaling or Photo

a) Page 10

i) Back of Envelope
ii) Use a 2.5” x 3.5” piece of cardstock (black)
iii) Use a 2.25” x 3.25” photo
iv) Place a piece of cardstock beneath for journaling, you determine
the size needed

d) Place a piece of 4” x 5.25” piece of cardstock inside the envelope for


journaling or additional photos.

a) Using a piece of 4” x 10.25” Piece of cardstock, fold in half, like a


card
b) Page 11: Decorate as desired (front of card)
c) Page 12-13: (inside of card)

i) Create your base with a 3.75” x 10” piece of cardstock (gold)


ii) Then use a 3.5” x 9.75” piece of neutral cardstockDecorate as
desired

d) Page 14: Decorate as desired (back of Card)

a) Follow the directions for Pages 11-14, and create another card

a) 5.5” x 6.5” piece of solid cardstock, decorate as you wish

a) Use a piece of 4” x 5.5” cardstock, decorate as desired

i) Cover the Flap of the envelope with a 3” x 5” piece of cardstock


ii) Decorate as desired

c) Page 28 (back of Envelope): Decorate as desired


d) Place a 4” x 5.25” piece of cardstock inside envelope for journaling
or photos

i) Adhere a piece of 5.5” x 6.5” piece of solid cardstock to the back of
the file folder.
ii) This will create a strong back cover.
