1. PRESENT ART
1.1 Current Application or Invention
ECM used in conjunction with bone cement and bone to accelerate healing by improving angiogenesis and cell ingrowth.
Bone cement causes ends and sides of bone to stick together but do not provide an environment for the material to become viable tissue. ECM provides the particular environment for cell growth, migration, metabolism, and phenotypic maturation.
Mixing ECM to a cement or orthopedic will allow for bone ingrowth
The ECM may come from any source, natural or grown in vitro.
The ECM may be grown on the device by culturing the cells on thedevice and then de-cellularizing the combination
The ECM may be a powder and mixed into the bone cement adhesive
The ECM may be placed in a sheet form around the cement or cortical bone matrix
The ECM may be mixed with cortical bone that has BMPs within itZachary Reinhardt3
