Some theorize that due to the psychospiritual impact on the victim of atrocity, the soul of the victim
tends to be bound thereafter to that of whoever perpetrated the crime upon him or her. Thus each place
in the Inferno accommodates the victims of a given type of atrocity as well as the ones guilty of that type
of crime or sin. Sociologically speaking, the souls of victims are assigned to Inferno because society
doesnt want to acknowledge the injustice or even facts of their victimization: battered children and
wives, victims of religious or racial or other hate-crimes, victims of fraud, victims of mind-rapes, victims
of political evil, etc. Are bound in Inferno even as those who victimized them are. The victims of
violence are in the Lake of Boiling Blood right next to those who harmed them; the victims of rape run
their courses in the First and Second Bolgia of the 8th Circle, right next to those who victimized them.
Their are victims who believe this torment is just (karma), and those who dont
Does society feed off the energy of the agony of these victims in hell? Would that agony be less if
we didnt deny it is wrong?
