House Democrats:

You are being mocked by Attorney General Tom Corbett and the Republican Party.

In an interview today with the Associated Press' Peter Jackson, Corbett admits that it is nearlycertain that he will not bring charges against Republicans before the November elections:

"Pennsylvania's attorney general says the next round of arrests in the ``Bonusgate''investigation will come either this month or after the election....Corbett said more arrests couldbe made this month ``if all the dominoes fall in the right line.'' But he said he won't compromisethe investigation to meet an arbitrary timetable."

Not compromising for an arbitrary timetable? That is a cop-out similar to how PresidentBush justifies his refusal to withdraw the troops from Iraq. Although, it makes sense that hewould sound like Bush given that Corbett runs the PA Office of Attorney General like AlbertoGonzales.

Stop kidding yourselves! Corbett will not bring indictments against Republicans before theelection (or ever) unless you turn up the heat. Corbett reiterated today his self-imposedmoratorium on announcing any further charges from October 1 to the Election. That leaves 12days in September for him to prove he isn't a partisan Republican.

Corbett is laughing at you because he is counting on you and your anemic leadership to sit idlyby as he does nothing and Republican House candidates continue to take pot shots at you andyour candidates. Here are two things to keep in mind:

#1 Corbett finds it hilarious that you actually believe he doesn't want to influence theNovember elections. He continues to fail mentioning that on October 7th the preliminaryhearing against the House Democrats already charged will be chock full of new and politicallyuseful information for your opponents. His state funded political spokesperson, Kevin Harley,has already promised the Post-Gazette on 7/29 that there will be new information, "Thehearing is likely to include testimony from witnesses and new details about the defendants'alleged roles ...."A perfect example is Rick Taylor's opponent who is anxiously waiting for this gift from Corbett.Check out this press release from yesterday.
