On June 29*, 2009 the City Commissionunanimously said YES to fairness and equality for all people in Kalamazoo when they added gay andtransgender people to existing non-discriminationprotections in the city. Then a small group of petitions challenged these basic protections andsent them to a vote by the people of Kalamazoo.
