INTRODUCTION
The University is ranked among the top 500 universities of the world
(QS & Times Higher Education Supplement). We continue to be at
the forefront of world research, and continue to strive to produce
excellent graduates in Arts, Business, Biology, Dentistry,
Engineering, Information Technology, Language & Literature, Social
Sciences, Pharmacy and Medicine.
Once of the latest projects has been launched under the trademark
of Lifesafe, which allows for the storage of stem cells from the
Umbilical Cord Blood. In the second stage of the project the
University aims to launch Pakistans first Stem Cells, testing,
processing and storage laboratory.
Vice-Chancellors Message
The Annual Report for the academic Session 2007-08 provide a true
picture of all the activities undertaken. The report may serve as a
guiding post in formulating strategies for the future.
In the end, I pray for strength and farsight to work whole heartedly
with full devotion and concentration to elevate this Alma matter to a
world Class University.

Executive Summary

uncertain and uncharted.

VALUE PROPOSITION
Hostel Accommodation
Hostel accommodation is provided to about 1000 students in five
hostels four for men and one for woman. There are about 100 rooms
and one common room in each hostel with ample facilities for indoor
games. Research students are encouraged to stay in hostel. The
cost of living in hostel is low as it is heavily subdivided by the
university.A provost senior wardens and resident wardens manage
the affairs of hostels. A large cafeteria adjacent to the hostels
provides breakfast lunch and dinner at subsidized rate.
Transport:
The university has its own fleet of buses and other transport
vehicles. The buses ply between the campus and major locations in
Rawalpindi and Islamabad to provide transportation to students and
staff on concessional rates. A shuttle service runs between campus
and abpara at regular intervals. Private wagons also ply frequently
between the campus and abpara.
Health care:
A health center with the resident senior medical officer, a lady
medical officer and a full-time medical unit provides medical care on
campus during working hours. Its Para medical staff attends to stick
students round the clock. And emergency cases are sent to
treatment to Federal Government Services Hospital and Pakistan
institute of medical sciences.
Cafeteria and shops:
A cafeteria located near the administration block and the bus park,
provides meals, tea and cold drinks. Some of the departments have
their own teashops, which provide snacks during working hours. A
utility store is located on campus where groceries and essential
items of stationary are available. A number of private shops also
provide refreshments and food at reasonable rates.
Mosque:
The university mosque is located near cafeteria, close to hostels.
Telephone, Telegraph and postal services: A public call office is
located in the cafeteria building, which accepts out-going telegrams
and provides long distance telephone facility. A proposal to setup
central telephone facility in the university in hand. There is also post
office in the administration block.
Photocopying:
Photocopying facility is available on campus for students and staff
at reasonable rates. It is located in many buildings and also in
central library.

Bank:
The habib bank branch is located on campus which provides
banking facility to teachers, students and employees.
Sports:
The university provides facilities to the student for outdoor an
indoor games under the supervision of the sports committee which
also arranges interdepartmental tournaments and friendly matches
with other universities and colleges.
At present, facilities are available for table tennis, basketball,
football, badminton and athletics. Students participate in these
games with keen interest. The university plans to provide facilities
for hockey, squash, gymnastics and other games in future.
