Call for Submissions: GOOD MORNING CHRISTIAN WRITER
I am seeking a total of 52 short weekly devotions, each with 7 writing exercises or 7variations of one exercise. These will be for an audience of Christian writers (Christianswho write) at all levels of experience. With these devotions, I hope to provide that morningkick-start to their creativity and/or writing day for an entire year.
OPEN ± To provide for multiple projects of 52 devotions each.
Use 150-250 words (not including title, salutation or Scripture) for devotions.
Use 50-200 words for writing exercises, (based on devotion word count and tocreate a maximum of 400 words excluding title, salutation and Scripture.)Style:
Begin with a "Morning Focus" in Scripture.
Preference is one verse, or partial verse, with a two-verse maximum.
Use Scriptures from the NIV unless another translation or version better states your point and then please note the version and reason for change.
As in my included samples below, introduce your devotion in a casual, letter-likestyle, with the salutation of "Good Morning Christian Writer." Continue with the light"sunny-morning" feel of a chat with a writing friend over morning coffee or tea.(Using personal experiences in addition to instruction will help contribute to afriendly feel and should help avoid preachy-sounding teaching.)
Allow four lines (two double-spaced returns) between devotion and exercise.
Create the exercise with a connection to the devotion if possible.
The exercise should get the reader writing right away. Try to give instruction suchthat will drive the writer to close the book and get pencil to paper immediately.Submissions:
I prefer submissions as an MS Word attachment via e-mail (doc or rtf okay.)
Put each submission on its own document.
Include a title. (If you can, try something catchy for the table of contents.)
Please spell-check and grammar check. (Double-check manually.)
Set your page for 1-inch margins on all sides.
