AN ORDINANCE GIVING CASH INCENTIVES TO

ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY STUDENTS FROM THE
PROVINCE OF NORTHERN SAMAR WHO GARNER MEDALS
IN THE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SCHOOL PRESS
CONFERENCES, NATIONAL AND REGIONAL MATH
CHALLENGES, NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SCIENCE
QUIZZES AND SCI-DAMA, NATIONAL AND REGIONAL
MUSIC COMPETITIONS FOR YOUNG ARTISTS, AND SUPER
QUIZ BEE COMPETITIONS.

WHEREAS, the Province of Northern Samar actively participates in the

National and Regional School Press Conferences, National and Regional Math
Challenges, National and Regional Science Quizzes and Sci-Dama, National and
Regional Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) and Super Quiz Bee
competitions;

WHEREAS, these academic competitions involve selected elementary

and secondary students who have shown proficiency and skills in those fields;
 WHEREAS, through these competitions, the Province of Northern
Samar continues to produce elementary and secondary students who are
scholastically outstanding and competitive, thus giving honor to the Province;

WHEREAS, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, in

recognition of the vital role of the youth to actively involved in the said
competitions, fostering patriotism and nationalism, accelerating social progress,
and promoting total human liberation and development, intends to grant cash
incentives to elementary and secondary students from the Province of Northern
Samar who win first, second and third places in the National and Regional
School Press Conferences, National and Regional Math Challenges, National and
Regional Science Quizzes and Sci-Dama, National and Regional Music
Competitions for Young Artists and Super Quiz Bee competitions which are being
held annually;

WHEREFORE, upon joint motion of Honorable Jose F. Layon and

Honorable Albert A. Lucero, and adopted by the body as a Collegial Act-

BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in session

assembled, that:

Section 1 - Elementary and secondary students from the Province of

Northern Samar who garner medals in the annual National School Press
Conference, National Math Challenge, National Science Quiz and Sci-Dama,
National Music Competitions for Young Artists and Super Quiz Bee competitions
are entitled to cash incentives in the following amounts:

A. Individual Competition

1. Gold Medal/First Place Php 7,000

2. Silver Medal/Second Place 5,000
3. Bronze Medal/Third Place 3,000

B. Team Competition

1. Gold Medal/First Place Php 20,000

2. Silver Medal/Second Place 15,000
3. Bronze Medal/Third Place 10,000

Section 2 - Elementary and secondary students from the Province of

Northern Samar who garner medals in the annual Regional School Press
Conference, Regional Math Challenge, National Science Quiz and Sci-Dama,
Regional Music Competitions for Young Artists and Super Quiz Bee competitions
are entitled to cash incentives in the following amounts:
 A. Individual Competition

1. Gold Medal/First Place Php 3,500

2. Silver Medal/Second Place 2,500
3. Bronze Medal/Third Place 1,500

B. Team Competition

1. Gold Medal/First Place Php 10,000

2. Silver Medal/Second Place 7,500
3. Bronze Medal/Third Place 5,000

Section 3 - The amount necessary for the implementation of this

Ordinance shall be taken from the funds for Sports Development and Assistance to
Talent, Science and Other Related Activities in the General Annual Fund Budgets.

Section 4 – Copies of this Ordinance shall be distributed in the different

elementary and secondary schools in the Province of Northern Samar and be
published once in a newspaper of general circulation within the Province.

Section 5 - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.

PASSED AND ENACTED by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in session

assembled on the 23rd day of March 2009, Catarman, Northern Samar.
