elcome to the 2010 Specialty Motor Oil Guide, our eort to provide a comprehensive list o the specialty motor oils availablein the installed automotive maintenance market. But what, you might ask, is a “specialty” motor oil? Really, it is anything thatalls outside the term “conventional oil” (and while we know that some marketers actually produce their “conventional” oil rom ablend o synthetic and conventional base stocks, we only list those products that are marketed as a “synthetic blend”). Here, you’llfnd everything rom synthetics, synthetic blends and high-mileage motor oils to re-refned motor oils, Euro-spec products and evenbiodegradable motor oil. We also list which engine oil specifcations a product meets, be it API, ILSAC GF or ACEA. We also have a ewexplanatory tables about the alphabet soup o specifcations and what they really mean.
