SLANT”SLANT”
The “Slant” is a versatile route that allows us to attack twodifferent ways within the same route, giving us optionsEARLY and LATE in the play. This gives it a great chance toget open against all types of coverage!
The FRONTSIDE is our EARLY side, and gives us a 2-on-1vs. the flat defender with a Slant (Outside) and an Arrow(Inside)
The BACKSIDE is our LATE or LONG side, providing a 2-on-1 on the safety with a ‘Lookie Post’ and ‘Quick Post’.
The Slant is designed to hold up against all coverages, but it is especially effectiveagainst Cover 2, Cover 1, and can be a deadly

weapon against Blitz Cover 0 becausewe exploit the deep hole in the middle!
The Slant is a good way to convert 3rd and medium to long without having to protectfor a long time, and is outstanding in ‘Base’ situations or in the Red Zone whenmarried with Play Action!
