International Society for Teacher Education (ISfTE)
Seminar!It was academically stimulating complemented by
engaging social activities.

Robert Verhine (Brazil), Earl Shorris (USA), and Anna Hugo
(South Africa).

Luz Sisson de ©astro (Brazil) for the development and
production of a commemorative 30th anniversary book,

For long-standing members, Iǯm sure the book provided a
smile as they reminisced. For newer members, the book
provided a retrospective of the organization.

For general membership, copies of the 30th anniversary book


are still available. Information on how to purchase a copy will
be forthcoming on the ISfTE website.

V 9    Welcome again to the newcomers to ISfTE!!! We all hope that


you found the seminar experience both rewarding and
productive. Furthermore, we trust you had opportunities to
make new friends and establish collaborative efforts in the
future as we all continue to look to improve teacher education
around the world.

X 2012ȄBhutan: Warren Halloway (Australia) and John Mauer (Australia) will
providing significant support to the co-convenors (Dr. Kezang S.Sherab, Dr.
Phintsho©hoden, and Dr. KezangTshering).

X 2012ȄBahrain: Numan Al-Musawi will be working closely with the department


chair, Dr. Shamsan Al Mannai, in preparing for the ISfTE Seminar at the University of
Bahrain.

X 2014ȄHong Kong: Jacky Pow has secured the support of Dr. Janet Draper, Head of
the Department of Education Studies, HKBU, for our visit in 2014.

Dr. Sybil Wilson (©anada), keynote speaker, began the
30thISfTE Seminar by getting participants to À À a better
world and what we, as teachers, can do in her address titled,
DzEducating Teachers for a Better World.dz

Dr. Robert Verhine (Brazil), keynote speaker and higher


education evaluation expert,spoke on DzThe Evaluation of
Teacher Training in Brazil: Some Findings from a Nationwide
Effortdz and the various external influences and factors
impinging on the process.

Earl Shorris (USA), keynote speaker, in his address


titled, DzAt the Shrine of the Bald-Headed Tinker,dz
discussed his educational work with global
underserved communities.

Benjamin ZufiaurreGoicoechea(Spain) introduced the


seminarǯs last keynote speaker, Anna Hugo (South
Africa). Annaǯs address, DzTeacher Training: My Lessons
Learned in Distance Education,dz provided a brief
history of the changes in teacher education in South
Africa.
