only our legislators but also the bureaucrats we deal with every day here in Michigan and in Washington. Third, I don’t claim toknow everything about every aspect of Michigan’s business and government landscape, but I am humble enough and intelligent enough to quickly learn the aspects of what hindrances and other requirements are necessary to return Michigan to the hands of the business sector and private sector in general. Finally, as Ihear the other candidates talk yet again about the same issues Ifirst voted with in 1984 (national security, health care, illegal immigration, jobs, education, crime/security, etc), I know that theoverwhelming majority of Michiganders realize that legislatorsand governors do nothing but talk and spend. My goal is to get every dollar back into the pockets of our citizens and businessesso that we can compete not only nationally but globally as well. One more thing: as a county commissioner in Midland in2005/06, I gave away my salary and took no other mileage/per diem pay. I also presented a plan within 90 days of taking officein which I proposed to reduce local, state and federal taxes by offsets which would reduce our tax burdens by over 30%. I did this after consulting Dow Chemical executives, Dow Corningexecutives and Midland CoGeneration Venture (MCV) executivesas well as various small business owners. As a county commissioner or as a state legislator, I am just one voice in alarge group of self-concerned politicians. As governor of Michigan, immediately upon my election in November, we the people and business leaders of Michigan will setup a business plan, including taxation reforms and offsets, which will quickly give consumers and businesses the confidence to reinvest inMichigan.
