What is Meaningful Use?
Meaningful use isn’t a term defined in onesentence. Rather, it is a set of goals that thegovernment wants accomplished by physiciansusing EHR software. Using an EHR in ameaningful manner means you are workingtowards these high-level goals:
Improving quality, safety, efficiency, carecoordination, and public health;
Reducing health disparities;
Engaging patients and their families; and,
Ensuring adequate privacy and securityprotections for personal health information.These goals encompass 25 more granularobjectives, ranging from e-prescribing, toproviding patients with electronic copies of theirhealth information, to electronic insuranceclaims.
