Black August originated in the concentration camps ofCalifornia to honor fallen Freedom Fighters, JonathanJackson, George Jackson, William Christmas, James McClainand Khatari Gaulden. Jonathan Jackson was gunned downoutside the Marin County California courthouse on August 7,1970 as he attempted to liberate three imprisoned BlackLiberation Fighters: James McClain, William Christmas andRuchell Magee.
