Hey ... I wonder what constitutes normal? I am extra-ordinary!!!! ... lol ... and odd - well I cannot be an opposite because that doesn't make for balance ... but to me it was Odd the expectation they had of me when they didn't "model" the behaviour I could happily copy.

Did your parents stay out of your business when you were 12 going on 13? mine didn't.

my parents stay out of my business but they have other old ways that keep them from not worrying so much about the "do's and dont's"

I am following on from you Samvit. And I say - because bugger it - I can! yes. I am responsible for the model of my child - why? because I am her mother and I accepted the responsiblity of the challenge when I conceived her.

When she does things that I don't like do I say "oh it's not my fault she acts that way" - no! I don't say anything I find a solution and move ahead - I don't dwell in the past - which means last 5 minutes or yesterday. Sympathy? no way - no such thing as pity for an example. Do I feel sorry? no! why? no point in expelling the energy when I can compel it to proactivity (even though it is a tiring exercise)

Great stuff! Remember "Normal People are Boring." Better to be ODD. (haha) ;-)

well you are right, its always the the age of 14 which changes our life , its that age when we start making our selves machines and my dear all the parents are far older then that , before 14 if you some how get the idea that how all the society in general and how parents in particular wants us to become a mechanical robot doing the same things as others in the same category.

well what you have written here is nothing but the naked truth of all the parents, schools, universities and the whole world. if you can think some thing different then the rest of the world then till the time there is an emergence of another group of people who can understand you its just a crazy statement.

....Samvit.....
