An examination of the economic decline of the newspaper industry, "The News Is Dead..." looks at how the newspaper business fell into its current ecomonic slump. From there, an assessment of various means of revitalizing the industry leads into a discussion of how both business leaders in journalism and the journalists themselves can attempt to weather this economic storm.
The second part of the book examines different user-generated content services as a means for journalists to create a portfolio even without steady employment. By creating a brand for themselves, journalists can establish a following and become more marketable even without stepping foot in a newsroom.
