We all knew what tours were about and we all enjoyed it. I got away from the day to day bullshit and gotto go on the road. It did wonders for my song writing. We all sat up and listened a little closer.
“Great to know that you are all on board,” Richard turned to Una a
nd motioned for her to begin.
“Okay fella‟s, „The Forgotten‟ will be starting their tour in a month and will be traveling for ten months, unless we pick up more dates after that.” She handed out some folders to all of us to go over the details of the tour. “You‟re going to have
some flying to do, but we will be able to do a lot with the tour buses since
we have planned this out very precisely.” Una returned t
o her place next to Richard.Nicholas stepped forward and began to go over some of the details and we listened while going throughthe tentative schedules and tour dates. After finishing up with the details, Richard came around and shook our hands. We all thought that the meeting was over, but Una stood center stage now with Richard at herside. This was different.
“Now for t
he last bit of news for the tour, we have secured your opening act. They will be joining us here
in Seattle to get ready for the tour kick off concert.” She paused and
I glanced over to Nicholas.
So this is what he was uneasy about. We didn‟t get a sa
y at all in our opening act?
“Since when do we not get to decide on our opening act?” I spit out and Nicholas‟s fa
ce took on a hardexpression.
“Well, Christopher, we know that we do usually let you have a say in the matter; however, this band is an
up and coming band that already has a decent following. We recently signed them and just released theirsingle. They have been climbing the charts non-
stop. To be honest, we haven‟t seen a group grow soquickly since „The Forgotten‟. So that there should tell you w
hat a good match it will be for
the tour.” She
smiled widely. Before I could say anything else Nicholas stepped in.
“Not to mention that Una here was the one to discover our new prospect.” Nicholas ga
ve me a warninglook.
Ah, so that was it. Daddy‟s littl
e girl was the founder of the band so she gets to place them on our tour tohelp them grow in the midst of our fan base. I was pissed and refused to be used or pushed into this.
“So, have we heard
of the bad?” Jackson asked.
I turned quickly to look at him
. I couldn‟t believe that he was just accepting this without a fight. Iwould‟ve thought that they all would be as upset about this as I was. Looking over to Elliott and Jimmy
all I saw was a look of curiosity. What the hell?
“I‟m not sure. As I said they are fairly new. It is an all girl band named „Hushed Mentality‟.” Una beamedlike the proud mother. “They are a very talented band and their lead is really, really good. I think youguys will enjoy the company on the tour and get along well.”
A girl band? You have got to be kidding me. A pop tart, giggling girl fest. How is that a good match?I was going to protest but Una gave me a look that told me my argument would be inane. I slouched back into my chair biding my time. I would get Nicholas alone to talk about this.
“Holy Shit! Can you believe that we are going on tour? Like a real tour!” Kat screamed as we all tapped
our beers together. We were at our favorite local bar and celebr
ating our band‟s new success.
„Hushed Mentality‟ is our band and
consisted of the four of us: Kat is the bassist, Laney played guitar,Serena is on drums, and then we have Sara who was a backup singer and played piano too. I played thepiano and guitar, but also sang the lead vocals.
“I know it‟s so crazy!” Laney bounce
d in her seat.
I smiled large. In fact I haven‟t been able to stop smiling since our meeting with Una yesterday. Una was
the manager at Nobil Records who had found us playing at this very bar a few months back.We had wrapped up a rehearsal at the bar when
she approached us. We knew that she didn‟t belong in the
bar. She had perfectly straightened shiny light brown hair, perfect fair skin, along with a business womanpower suite that she made look sexy. Her presence was something that could not be ignored. She had thislook about her that sent out pulses you could feel across your skin.
Una introduced herself and wasn‟t shy about telling us what she was here to do.
She asked us to sit and
