Celebrations marking 125 yearssince the foundation of theMuseum commenced inSeptember with a number ofhighly successful public eventsand programs. Over 16 000people came to the Museumover the weekend 25-26September when we offeredfree general entry and a rangeof special programs as ourbirthday gift to the people ofSydney and New South Wales.We had launched thecelebrations a few days earlierwith the 2004 Life FellowsDinner, this year inducting theHon Jim Spigelman AC, formerPresident of the PowerhouseMuseum and current ChiefJustice of NSW, as theMuseum’s 17th Life Fellow (seepage opposite).I am sure I speak for all staff,volunteers and Trustees when Isay that it is a great honour tobe a part of this milestone inthe Museum’s history. As part of our125th anniversary I thought itan appropriate occasion toacknowledge them byinstalling an honours board.The new Powerhouse MuseumHonours Board is an elegant,floating glass wall in theMuseum foyer, which invitesvisitors to reflect on thecontribution and achievementsof the many people who helpmake the Museum such anoutstanding institution. For thefirst time, the honours boardfeatures a concise history ofthe Museum, and a wide rangeof categories; from Trustees
