isacycleofperiodicuterinebleeding,inresponsetocyclichormonalchangesthatbeginwiththesheddingofthesecretoryendometriumatabout14daysafteovulation.
Menstruation
isthetermusedtoindicatetheperiodicsheddingofthestratumfunctionaleotheendometrium,whichbecomesthickenedpriortomenstruationunderthestimulationof ovariansteroidhormone.Acomplexinteractionbetweenthehypothalmus,anteriorpituaitaryandtheovarieseventuallyleadstotheprocessoftheovulationwhichisrepeatedwithanaverageof28days(range25-35days)Thefirstphase:Menstruationlasts3-5dayCyclicchangesinthesecretionofgonadotrophichormonesfromtheanteriorpituaitarycausetheovarianchangesduringamonthlycycle.Theovariancycleisaccompaniedbycyclicchangesinthesecretionofestradiolandprogesterone,whichinteractwiththehypothalmusandpituaitarytoregulatethegonadotrophinsecretion.Thiscyclicchangesinovarianhormonesecretionalsocausechangesintheendometriumoftheuterusduringthemenstrualcycle
