One Bangsar's fate decided on Friday

The fate of disputed One Bangsar Sdn Bhd in Jalan Ara, Bangsar Baru, will be decided at the KL High Court on Friday.One Bangsar and its tenants are challenging the decision of mayor Datuk Seri AhmadFuad Ismail to not extend the business licences of the nine restaurants.The five-year business licence expired last December. Fuad said he was keeping his promise to the residents that it would not be renewed.“We had a discussion with the residents’ association. After listening to their demands thatOne Bangsar and Bangsar Seafood Restaurant should cease operations, we have decidedto abide by the lease agreement and not extend the licence, ” said Fuad.He said the restaurant operators had been given until Sept 16 to look for alternative premises.Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja ZainalAbidin said he had received an appeal letter from the business owners but added that theministry would not reconsider its decision.Raja Nong Chik had said the site would regain its residential status as stated in theoriginal master plan.Bangsar Baru Residents Association secretary Prem Kumar said he hoped that the courtwould give the matter a fair hearing.“We have said everything we need to and now we will let the court decide on the matter.We stand by what we said before, which is for the area to become residential again,” hesaid.
