To: UNFPA Representative Attention: — Operations Manager UNFPA, No. 6, Natmauk Road, Yangon Email: myanmar.office@unfpa.org Closing Date: 19 July 2010 (c.0.b) Organizational Setting UNFPA Country Office is currently supporting its second Programme of Assistance (2007-2010) for Reproductive Health in Myanmar aiming at achieving five outputs, ic., (3) improvement of maternal and newborn health through promoting birth spacing, skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care and community mobilization, (ii) population and reproductive health data for development, (iii) adolescent reproductive health, (iv) prevention of HIV among vulnerable population, and (v) prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV. UNFPA is partnering with Government departments, UN agencies, INGOs and local NGOs in wide geographical coverage area of more than 200 townships. Monitoring and evaluation of MDGs and gender mainstreaming and are also focus areas of UNFPA. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative, and under the supervision of the Assistant Representatives and National Programme Officers, the incumbent will be responsible for coordination, monitoring and smooth implementation of the UNFPA-supported projects on “Mainstreaming gender in development and humanitarian activities of UNFPA” and “WEP- UNFPA Collaborative Project”, and serve as trainer on reproductive health, HIV prevention and gender-related issues. In this capacity he/she will be responsible to: In the area of project management and monitoring: * Maintain and check documents and records related to the project; + Assist in effective and timely management of programme activities + Draft routine correspondence; + Prepare monthly reports to be submitted to UNFPA and the implementing partners. In the area of administrative and financial monitoring: + Assist in. monitoring of the project budget and implementation of project activities; + Prepare monthly report on the status of project implementation and expenditures; + Keeping track of expenditure, disbursements, and liquidation + Perform other related duties that may be assigned by UNFPA Representative and Assistant Representative. In the area of training: © Plan, organize and conduct trainings for beneficiaries of the above-mentioned projects Education and Experience * A basic university degree; population and/or other related social science field is preferable © Past experience in the UN system is an asset * Demonstrated ability to carry-out “multi-tasks”” * Initiative and sound judgment * Excellence computer literacy (Windows environment, MS office applications including Word, Access, Excel and Power Point and knowledge of Internet skills, © Ability to work efficiently and harmoniously in a team, and to interact effectively as part of a national team * Dedication to the United Nations principles and demonstrated ability to work in harmony in team and with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds, Fluency in oral and written English and Myanmar is essential with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Sound knowledge on the reproductive health, HIV prevention and gender issues; Sound knowledge and skills on the project management including financial management * Initiative and sound judgment; Demonstrated ability to carry-out “multi-tasks”; Ability to work independently as well as efficiently and harmoniously in a team, and to interact effectively as part of a national team; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work with the Government, other UN agencies, INGOs and local NGOs (in particular at local levels); Ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds; Ability to travel frequently to the project sites at the field level to monitor project activities; Dedication to the United Nations principles.
