Sophia P. was seen fo occupational theapy fom Noembeof 2009 to Apil of 2010 fo delayed deelopment of oeallmilestones. She also had expessie language delay. Sophiahas a twin siste, and they wee bon e weeks pematuely.Although he siste is deeloping on taget, Sophia hasbeen delayed along the way. Sophia has a diagnosis of hypothyoidism-- at 12 months of age she sustained asubdual hemohage due to a fall fom balance decits andundewent a caniotomy. She eceied physical theapy fomECI, befoe I joined to poide occupational theapy. Initialtesting eealed delayed ne moto skills and ADLs, balancedecits and tactile sensoy pocessing decits. Sophia didnot initiate play o utilize bilateal coodination, no did shespeak.Sophia’s tactile pocessing was diminished compaed to hepees, so I utilized as aiety of techniques, including deeppessue and joint compession input, duing theapeuticactiities. She was also a bit tactile defensie, so I used thebushing potocol and educated mom on how to pefomon Sophia in ode to decease he sensitiity, theebyimpoing he initiation of play o ADL’s though touch. Shehad balance decits, so I utilized a aiety of sensoimotoactiities including a scoote boad, theapy ball and balanceboad while pefoming some type of eye/hand coodinationtask: i.e. bubbles, balloons, etc. Last of all, fo he ne motodecits, she played with a aiety of ne moto manipulaties,including caft actiities, play dough, peg/boad, stingingbeads, etc. Sophia initially equied hand oe hand assist,befoe ultimately woking he way to independence of skillsfo he age.He mom was ey inoled in each teatment session, andoften went aboe and beyond when it came to followingthough on sensoy diet actiities and home pogam.Sophia, twin siste Oliia (both 1

She was ecently eealuated and found to be ageappopiate in all aeas. She had blossomed into a happy gilwho could expess he own needs, play appopiately withhe pees, and had become functionally independent fo heage. Sophia was a joy to teat. Although it was often times tome like teating the whole “daycae” with sibling and cousinalso pesent, Sophia was always happy to see me. Sophiawas ecently dischaged.
