Hug
Hug Elsie
By Carmen Davis-Stevens 2010

Written for Jim Massey and Larry Husby.

Assembly

Cut out circle and spinner handle.

Punch a pin hole through the center of the circle and through the spinner handle.

Glue to cereal box cardboard. Trim box to fit shapes.

Use punched hole in paper as a guide to punch holes through cardboard pieces.

Use brad or nail to make spinner work.

Color with crayons as needed.

Make Elsie
Making Elsie is as easy or hard as you would like. Create an effigy from handy
materials. The following three ideas are quite simple but might inspire you to create a
unique version of Elsie. For deep therapy you may want to create a life size version of
Elsie.

1. Stick sewing pins into a potato to simulate facial features.

2. Draw facial features on a can of soup or mason jar of corned beef.
3. A yard of rope tied with a few knots to indicate features.

You can add ribbons, bows or buttons to bring out the feminine features of Elsie. You
will find it much easier to hug her if you make a smiling mouth.
Rules
Choose game area carefully. Elsie would like a
chair of her own but is willing to sit on laps. She
prefers guys. She wants to spend equal time with
each guy.

Make sure the spinner is level or fairly placed. If it is

not level, rotate it after one complete turn cycle to
the next player, making sure all players have equal
turns with the unlevel spinner.

The first person to hug another person goes first.

First round play goes to the left.

Each player spins the spinner and follows the

instructions.

Second round play goes to the right.

Third round play goes to the left.
Fourth round play goes to the right.
Fifth thru 10th rounds go to the left.
All other rounds go to the right.

You will need pencil and paper or knife and stick to

make a mark for each player when they hug Elsie.

Whoever has hugged Elsie the most is in the lead.

Whoever is in the lead on the fifth round chooses

when the game ends.

Whoever is in the the lead when the game ends,

wins the game.
Important Game Notes:

Larry and Jim are important components of the game. If the

real Larry and Jim refuse to play or are simply not around to
play the game, create an effigy for each one.

The healing power of the game is only half diminished by Larry

or Jim not playing as long as there are Larry and Jim effigies. If
Larry and Jim are presented with a reasonable dialog of the
entire game then the healing power goes back up to full scale.

If a real Elsie is playing the game, she/he must be called “The

Fake Elsie” or “The Other Fake Elsie” if there are two.

Frequently asked Questions:

1. What if all the players except myself are effigies?

Answer: No worries. People do it all the time.

2. What if only Jim will play and Larry won't?

Answer: No worries. Make a larger effigy of the one who won't
play.

3. Can I use my pets as effigies?

Answer: No. It's been tried before and it just doesn't work.
Effigies must stay with the game and are not allowed to lick
their privates.

4. What if Chuck Johnston wants to play too?

Worries. Big worries. Don't let him play unless he makes his
own effigies.
