Position: Resource Specialist (Americorps Position
)The Organization:The Save Our Streets Crown Heights (SOS) Crown Heights is a community-based effortto end gun violence in our neighborhood. This program is a partnership led by localorganizations, neighborhood churches and pastors, and community residents. SOSCrown Heights will reduce the violence in our streets by working closely with theindividuals most likely to commit a shooting.
To oversee and update the S.O.S Program's Resource Directory with currentinformation and new service providers and programs.
To coordinate resource referrals for S.O.S participants in areas such as housing,employment, job training, GED, public benefits, etc.
Update our Resource Directory with current information and new serviceproviders and programs
Report lessons learned and information gathered from meetings with ProgramManager.
Knowledge of Crown Heights area service providers a plus
Research experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent people skills
Ability to work well with diverse populations
Resourceful and creative
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Bi-lingual skills a plus
People with knowledge and experience working within an agency that deals withPublic Assistance and Housing are preferredThis is a Full-Time AmeriCorps Member position. The Resource Manager will serve1700 hours in 365 days; receive a living stipend, and an educational stipend.
 Americorps Responsibilities
Serve a minimum of 35 hours per week (for a total of 1,700 hours in 1 year) andoccasionally some weekends
Commit to serve for 1 year from October 1
2010 – September 30
Minimum of High School degree preferred (If you do not have a high school degreeyou must successfully participate in GED program while in service)
Must be at least 18 years old by October 1
 An interest in public service, youth development, law and community volunteerism
 You must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the U.S.
