Celebrating excellencein UK school designand construction

The BCSE Industry Awards, now in their third year, identiyand reward excellence in the UK school design andconstruction sector. We were delighted with the quality o submissions this year across 15 categories that demonstratethe innovation and outstanding work being delivered acrossthe public and private sector. The judges have chosen arange o projects, individuals and teams to recognise theircontribution to school design in the last year. In particular,the Big School Makeover Award or the Best RemodelledSchool had some antastic projects and will be an area o great interest in the coming years.The entries this year are a welcome opportunity to celebratethe best o Britain’s schools. In an ‘age o austerity’ thetemptation may be to retreat into our shells, but this year,more than any other, we need to celebrate the world classwork that our schools, local authorities, architects, contractors,suppliers and organizations have been doing across thesector. The strong shortlist and exciting list o winners shownin this booklet show that we have much to be proud o.We hope that you will nd this book inspiring and both in thediversity o projects it contains and in the level o thinking thathas gone into each school.
