hat is Supervision?
 A distinct professional activity in which education andtraining aimed at developing science-informed practiceare facilitated through a collaborative interpersonalprocess. It involves observation, evaluation, feedback, thefacilitation of supervisee self-assessment, and theacquisition of knowledge and skills by instruction,modeling, and mutual problem solving«Supervisionensures that clinical consultation is conducted in acompetent manner in which ethical standards, legalprescriptions, and professional practices are used topromote and protect the welfare of the client, theprofession, and the society at large (FalenderandShafranske, 2004, p. 3)

hat is Supervision?
 An intervention provided by a more senior memberof a profession to a more junior member or membersof that same profession. This relationship isevaluative; extends over time; and has thesimultaneous purposes of enhancing the professionalfunctioning of the more junior person(s), monitoringthe quality of professional services offered to theclients that she/he, or they see, and serving as agatekeeper for those who are to enter the particularprofession (Bernard & Goodyear, 2004, p. 8).
