ON OUR COVER
SJA SUSSEX ACQUIRES NEW VEHICLE
The Sussex Unit of St John Ambulance is the
proud owner of a new vehicle to assist the
organization with its’ service of providing first aid
in Sussex and the surrounding area. The Ford
Transit Connect vehicle made its’ debut in the
Canada Day parades in Belleisle Valley, Apohaqui and Sussex. It
replaces the 1990 van used by the Unit for over 20 years. That
vehicle, which was originally an ambulance, will go in a showroom
display as an example of an older ambulance that is being created by
Malley Industries in Moncton. The firm converts ambulances and
other vehicles to suit the needs of the end users and felt that having
one of its’ earlier vehicles in a showroom would be respectful of
both early days at the firm and an early customer.
The new vehicle is user friendly, economical and smaller than the
previous one but carries all of the essential equipment needed to
provide first aid service at an event. The interior was efficiently
designed and outfitted by using the input of the volunteer members
who use the vehicle. The exterior is eye-catching & tells its’ own
story.
St. John Ambulance, Sussex thanks the Kiwanis Club, Downey
Ford, Malley Industries, St John Ambulance Provincial Office & the
public for helping to make this new transition happen.
St John Ambulance is proud to be of service to the community and
invites those interested in volunteering with St. John Ambulance,
requiring first aid coverage at an event or interested in taking first
aid training to contact them at 506-433-4840. 319
