Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the School Organizational Team (SOT)
April 25, 2017

The meeting was called to order by SOT team member Jill Stackel at 5:06 PM. It was seconded by Anna
Sowell.

Approval of the Agenda

The agenda for the meeting was distributed and unanimously approved.

Review of Previous Meetings

The SOT Committee reviewed and unanimously approved the notes from the last meeting. Ana Pisano
motioned for the minutes to be approved; Jill Stackel seconded the motion.

Issues That Were Discussed This Meeting

As a team, we proof-read and edited the Parent/Community Survey. Minor changes were made to the
document.

We are also looking into creating a Go Green program here. Over the summer, Ryoko Ball-Aguilar will
be looking into what our local waste management department has to offer.

In regards to staffing, as of April 17th, Tanya Steele will be going into the fourth grade. At this time, our
opening in third will go to surplus.
New business: Kindergarten approached Mrs. Imboden with a new concept. They were interested in
running the first week that would allow the incoming students to experience a different teacher each day
then a decision will be made by Friday. We discussed the pros and cons of this K-enrollment rotation.

It was decided that we would send out with the June form a survey to the parents of the incoming
kindergartners how they felt in regards to their childs educational experiences (for example, did they
already complete pre-school) as well as what personality traits and school environment would be best
suited for their child. Based on the results of the survey, one option might be to create a transitional
kindergarten. That would be beneficial to help students that did not have as much experience in a
classroom setting. The discussion ended with an alternative plan. After two weeks, kindergarten
teachers would have the discretion to make adjustments in regards to classroom placement.
In regards to other grade levels, we also discussed the idea of having accelerated and blended classes
as well.

Agenda and Time of Next Meeting

The next meeting date will be May 9, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. A PTA meeting is scheduled to follow at 6:00 P.M.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:49 PM by SOT member Ana Pisano. It was seconded by Anna Sowell.
