Wow! I think you might be on to something here. I'm intrigued... This seems to describe an experience I had 4 years ago. Although I was not formally diagnosed, I was admitted to psychiatric care after a period of six weeks in which I displayed manic symptoms culminating in acute psychosis and paranoia (but with no depressive componant). I signed myself out after just two days treatment as it seemed to me that psychiatry failed to account for why my psychosis of convenience was spiritual in nature. I had visions and discovered latent psychic abilities (divining, energy healing). I found that during this period I would invariably sleep (when I did sleep!) in what I now know to be the yogic vrksasana position, despite the fact that I had no previous knowledge or interest in yoga. Your post has given me food for thought and I will follow it up with further research as I am always seeking to shed more light upon what was a spiritually enriching, mysterious experience for me.
