LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF KENT COUNTY Maryland House of Delegates Candidate Questionnaire for the 2010 Primary and General Elections Please answer the following questions and e-mail your responses to: jes-grs@verizon.net as soon as possible, but no later than § pm Thursday, July 22", Please put your name and the office that you are running for in the subject line. We will cut your statement at the end of 50 words as counted by our software. You do not have to retype the entire question. Please indicate the question you are responding to by the key word (in bold capital letters). Candidate responses will be limited to 50 words. No corrections to spelling or grammar will be made. We reserve the right to make stylistic changes (bolding, capital letters, italics) to conform to our style sheet. All questions, responses, and photographs will be included in online Voters’ Guide; however, due to space limitations, the League may use just some of the topics and eliminate photographs in the printed version. Please return your responses by the deadline, Thursday, July 22nd, even if you are unopposed in the Primary or will only be a candidate in the General Election. However, responses will only be posted for candidates on the primary ballot prior to the Primary Election. BUSINESS TAXES: Do you support any changes in Maryland’s business tax structure? If so, what changes would you endorse? SAFETY NET SERVICES: In light of the cuts to services for vulnerable populations, legislation has been proposed to increase beer, wine and liquor taxes. Would you support this proposal or any other ‘means to restore funds for these services? Please explain. EDUCATION: How should state government work with local governments to solve the crisis in funding for public K-12 education? ENERGY: How should Maryland address its future energy needs?
