FINANCIAL LITERACY SEMINAR HELD

Financial Literacy Seminar was jointly organized by the PhilippineEmbassy in Seoul and theHyehwadong Filipino Catholic Commu-nity (HFCC). It was held last Sunday,June 1, 2008 at the Coffee Shop of theSt Benedict Church. HFCC volunteersand church goers attended the semi-nar.The said seminar was facilitated bythe Philippine Embassy and POLOstaff. Ambassador Luis T. Cruz gavethe opening remarks and Labor At-tache, Atty. Delmer Cruz served as theconvenor.Commercial Councilor Edgardo J.Garcia presented the Business Oppor-tunities in the Philippines. He encour-aged everyone to plan and start abusiness in the Philippines while work-ing in Korea. He said that the Depart-ment of Trade and Industry is availablefor other inquiries in franchising anddoing business in the countryside.Financial Literacy was discussed byConsul and Second Secretary Juan E.Dayang, Jr. with the help of WelfareOfficer Pat Cobarrubias. He pointedout three steps to achieve FinancialFreedom: Plan, Save and Invest. A pre-test and post-test about Fi-nancial Planning Program were givento participants. The purpose of the testwas to evaluate the participant’s finan-cial literacy before and after the semi-nar.The seminar aims to give knowl-edge and understanding to OFWs onhow to manage their income wisely.Instead of saving the left over money,it should be “Save first before Spend-ing.”Lastly, Fr. Alvin Parantar, MSPacknowledged the speakers for shar-ing their knowledge and the partici-pants who actively participated in thesaid seminar.
HFCC Lumahok sa Songtan Inter-national Peace Festival
Ang Hyehwadong Filipino Catholic Community(HFCC) ay lumahok sa Songtan International PeaceFestival na ginanap noong ika 31 ng Mayo at ika 1 ngHunyo 2008 sa Songtan, South Korea.. Ito rin aydinaluhan ng iba pang nga organisasyon tulad ngPIKO Organization, PHILWAK at Philippine-KoeanCultural HOuse.Ang mga kinatawan ng HFCC ay nagpamalas ngmga katutubong sayaw na tulad ng Tinikling at Cari-nosa. Nagluto din sila ng mga pagkaing Filipinotulad ng pansit guisado, lumpiang shanghai, biko,halu-halo at inuming gulaman.Ang panauhing pandangal ay ang kagalang-galangna Ambassador ng Pilipinas Luis T. Cruz. Sa kan-yang mensahe, kanyang ipinaabot ang pakikiisa ngmga Filipino sa ipinagdiriwang na InternationalPeace Festival.Layunin ng nabanggit na pagdiriwang ang ipamu-lat ang kapayapaan sa buong mundo sa kabila ng pagkakaiba-iba ng lahi at kultura.
MACHINE READABLE PASSPORT
Beginning June 2008, the Philippines will be issu-ing Machine Readable Passports, which containgreater security measures in compliance with interna-tional standards. For the Philippine Embassy in Seoul,the target date of implementation is 9 June 2008.Please take note of the following importantchanges in the application process:1. Renewed passports will be released one monthfrom the date of application. All passports will be processed in the Philippines. The new date of releasewill allow ample time for processing.2. Photos should have a background color of royal blue. Size is 4.5 x 3.5 cm. Kindly check theattached document on the new photo requirements for details.3. Personal appearance is required in all applica-tions. Children 8 years old and below, as well as sen-ior citizens 65 and above are exempted from thisrule. The applicant may authorize a representative toclaim the renewed passport by issuing an authoriza-tion letter.

April 25, 1991 nang lumapag ang gulong ng sasakyan ng eroplanong aking sinasakyan . Kahit napakalamig ng klima ay tila di maisang mamayani ang galak sa puso dahil parang panibagong karanasan na naman ang aking tatahaki’t lalakbayin.Taong 1992 nang makita ko ang isang babasahing ‘Sampaguita’ na nagmula pa sa Chayangdong church kung saan nagsisimba angFilipinong nagtratrabaho sa Korea lalung-lalo na sa mga naninirahan sa Seoul. Dito ko rin pinagmamasdan ang lahat ng kilos ng mga naingkod sa simbahan kung paano ba ang kanilang pakikitungo sa ating mga kababayan. Kaya naman kahit na may munti akong kakayana pinilit kong ibahagi ito sa ating Sambayanan.Bilang isang volunteer maihahalintulad sa tatlong bagay ang ating ginagawang paglilingkod sa Panginoon. Gaya ng isang ‘Tabak’laging idinadarang sa apoy upang maging matulis at sharp sa bawat area na kanyang ginagalawan. Katulad ng dahon ng ‘Evergreen’kahit ang klima ay winter, summer, spring at autumn ay patuloy na nanatiling kulay luntian. Kahalintulad ng isang baling puting ‘Kandna kahit may kahinaan ay walang sawang nagbibigay liwanag sa kanyang kapwa. Noon sabi nila ang paglilingkod sa simbahan ay dapat mayroon kang tatlong T’s na pinanghahawakan. ‘Time’ dapat may sapat na phon ka sa ating mga kababayang nangangailangan ng tulong gaya sa mga nagkakasakit at sasamahan mo sila sa hospital o iba pang problemang kanilang kinahaharap at nawa lagi kang may sapat na oras sa pakikinig sa kanilang inihahaing suliranin.’Treasure’ sa paglilikod sa simbahan ,lagi nating tatandaan na tayo din ay kinakatok ng Panginoon na magbahagi ng ating konting pera na pantulong dinsaindigent migrant workers.’Talent’ na tunay namang di dapat pagtalunan dahil sa munting talento at kakayahan marami na tayong n pasayang tao, gaya ng pagkanta, paglilinis sa simbahan, pagsusulat sa newsletter at marami pang iba.Subalit sa matuling pag-usad ng kamay ng orasan tila dapat nating dagdagan ng isa pang ‘T’ at ito ang tinatawag na ‘Truthfulness’. pat magpakatotoo tayo sa ating sarili, harapin natin ang Diyos ng may buong kalinisan at walang bahid ng pagkukunwari. Tunay na sin bing maaring maglingkod ang mga makasalanan subalit lagi rin nating itanim sa ating isipan na kung magpapakatotoo lamang tayo saasarili at handa tayong magpabago sa ngalan ng Diyos tiyak na magkakaroon ng katahimikan ang ating puso sa paglilingkod at iyan ay ddapat pang pagdebatihan, At ang mga nakakapasok sa kaharian ng Langit ay iyong handang sumunod sa kagustuhan ng Panginoon.Ilagay sa ating puso’t kaisipan na tayong mga naglilingkod sa simbahan ay di mababait na tao at di rin masasamang nilalang , Subtayo ay isang Kristiyano na sa bawat oras ay pinipilit at laging nagsusumikap na masundan ang yapak ni Kristo
