Dean of Trinity Southwest University, and the Museum
of Archaeology and Biblical History, Albuquerque, New
Mexico, for his tireless pursuit of the factual locations
of Sodom and Gomorrah and the other Cities of the
Plain as they are called out in the book of Genesis.

It is also intended as a reference for archaeological and
biblical students. All material is freely available for
study purposes, only. No commercial rights given, nor
implied, since significant contributions to this paper
have come from other sources which have individual
copyrights on their own material. These other
contributing sources have been given due credit and
listed within this paper as well as the bibliography for
those who may wish to contact any of them directly.

PREFACE

I am not an Archaeologist, so my observations were/are
based upon a literal survey of biblical text, the careful
analysis of numerous other resources, and the leading of
the Holy Spirit. Much controversy surrounds the true
locations of Sodom and Gomorrah. Long-held opinions
place them at the southern end of the Dead Sea, while
an ever-increasing minority boldly suggests other
locations. Dr. Collins proposes an area north of the
Dead Sea and east of the Jordan River, specifically the
Tall el-Hammam area (and nearby talls) where he and
his associates have devoted much time and effort.

Although I am not an Archaeologist, I am someone who
is somewhat known for successfully researching rather
controversial biblical subjects that many writers have
preferred to simply avoid or side-step. I wholeheartedly
believe that the Bible, the Holy Word of God, is the
inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God to His
people and that as fellow Christians, you and I are in
agreement on this point. Keeping this in mind, I have
read all of the material you have provided and I find
your book, The Search for Sodom and Gomorrah

,
fascinating and compelling. You have made a very
strong case for the location of the Cities of the Plain on
the Kikkar northeast of the Dead Sea. Although my
observations come from somewhat of a different
perspective than your well-trained archaeological mind,
I can safely and confidently say that after much
research and prayer, I wholeheartedly agree with a
northeastern location for the Cities of the Plain.

Other than the information you have provided me, I
have read a plethora it seems, of information which is
