1. When was BH first approached about suit wearing?
JULY OR AUGUST
—“It was July or August of 1967. Gimlin said that Rogerwas going to make a film, and they needed someone to weara suit.”
—The Making of Bigfoot,
—“When was the first time you ever heard of Bigfoot?”
—“Actually, it was in 1967 about September. … Rogercome up with the big scheme, you know, and he neededsome big hefty guy, a stout guy like me, to wear the suit, sohe contacted Bob, and asked if Bob would talk to me.”—XZone radio interview, August 6, 2007~~~
2. Was BH concerned about possible illegality?
You were aware then that you wereparticipating in what could have been—I don’t know if youknew how big—but certainly a fraud
—“It didn’t, you know, bother me at the time. I didn’t carewhat they done with the film they made. Just so I got mythousand bucks.”—Jeff Rense radio show interview, March 1, 2004
—“It [wearing the suit] didn’t matter to me. I was twenty-six years old. I didn’t give a damn about anything.”—
The Making of Bigfoot, p. 344
—“I went up to Roger’s place, which is about 14 milesabove our place here, and he asked me if I would wear thesuit, and I said, ‘OK, as long as nothing’s illegal I’ll do it
foryou.’”—XZone radio interview, August 6, 2007
Given the “I didn’t care” attitude in box 1, he would nothave inserted the “not-if-it’s-illegal” proviso in box 2. IOW, he’schanged his story, not just added a detail. (But, even if that’s all it was,it’s still a bit suspicious, being “embroidery.”)
