The best economic policy is to limit government to creating theconditions which permit individuals to pursue their own goals and liveat peace with their neighbors. Government's obligation is simply toprotect life and property and to allow people to enjoy the freedom andopportunity to cooperate and trade with one another. In this waygovernment creates the economic environment that permits capitalismto flourish.
