Minimum Qualification Required :

Diploma in Electronics, Computer or Infrastructure ( Civil )

Functions of Operations & Maintenance Department.

1. Keep the Site Alive.

[ Site cannot be shut down for any of the reason like :


Electricity Problem , Fuel , Raw material or Manpower . ]

2. First level of Electronic Equipment Installed Maintenance.

[ If for any reason any Electronic Equipment go down or stop


functioning properly it will inform Project Manager of Equipment
Supplier & he will rectify the Problem ]

Their Main client is Ericsson , From which they


get maximum work.

Growth Pattern.

According to all studies it is known that in this financial year nearly


30,000 sites will be installed throughout India. ( 2010 – 11 )
[ this figure is reached by taking care into account previous data,
growth projected by TRAI , by various government agencies , and
planned growth projected by various companies. ]

Note : Ericsson will have 20 % of the share of this entire market.


Means 20 % of 30,000 = 6000 Sites.
Other players in this sector are : Nokia , Siemens , Alcatel and
one Chinese player Huawai & Zteck.
Tics will have around 35 to 40 % of Ericsson share.
[ Past experience , good relations with company , reliable sources. ]

Based on this information work load analysis is done. How much


manpower will be required to carry out this work.
[ An increase of around 10 to 15 % in Manpower requirement ]

As if now Tics is handling Operation & Maintenance of around


10,000 sites with the help of 592 employees.
Once any project is assigned by Ericsson , any where in India ,
company is given an average of 4 weeks of time to complete the task

For this purpose company always sends the old , experience staff and
send it to new site for completion of the project.

Manpower is selected is such a way that work in pipeline is not


affected at all.

Now Hiring is done for old site.

Most preferred source is Recommendations and least preferred is


Consultants.
After doing the initial Screening matching the profile with job
specification and telephonic interviews – short listing is done.

One HR Person from Ericsson and one from the company together take
the call for selection process.

One Specialized person is there who’s main job is to travel across the
India and do the Short listing.

Orientation and Induction

Two to three days are kept for Orientation programme and followed by
7 to 10 days for Training . [ on the job training ].

Another week time is given to candidate for travelling and


Accommodation. So in all one month time is there before a person can
actually start contributing and assigned any work.
Probation and Final Placements.

1. Fresher's - this period is about 6 months.

2. Experienced - One year.

Transfer Policy - Any candidate can be located anywhere in India.

[ Most important aspect , before giving appointment letter consent of


prospective candidate is taken that he can be posted any where ,
however in most cases a candidate from south India will be posted in
somewhere south India only ]
Promotion Policy :

Form Trainee Engineer to Engineer it takes around 3 years.

Continuous Training

1. If there is introduction on any new equipments , new technology or


any kind of new innovations or any new process in introduced than
company sends its employees for technical training.

[ Basically a place is chosen for training purpose , all the trainee than
called upon and one expert technical person impart the knowledge
which is on the job training only. ]
Attrition Rate.

1. Attrition rate is around 10 % , So accordingly manpower planning is


done . [ this rate is in Operation and Maintenance department ]

2. Regular Staff ( Admin , HR, Accounts , Front office , CAD team )


their attrition rate is very very low. Normally nobody leaves once

they enter the organization. Every year there is increase of around


2 to 3 % increase in Manpower.

4. Guest house facilities for those coming from other states.
5. NO – Firing policy of the company
6. Work is basically back – office , therefore work pressure is also

very low.
