CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
The basic problem in the cotton textile mill is the
manufacture of a standard product from an
essentially non-standard and highly variable
raw material.
The main problems for the manufacture of good
quality of yarn are:
Improper air conditioning system
Lack of skilled worker
Outdated of the ring frame machines
Raw material problems
Ring frame machine setting problems
What is quality?
To many people, quality is simple or too obvious
even to think about or pay attention to.
Simple definition of quality is:
quality is essential character,
quality can also mean to meeting or
exceeding customer expectations all the
time.
Why quality is important?
Greater market share
Higher growth rate
Higher earning and
premium price
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

To improve the yarn count, twist, strength,

appearance .
Increase the productivity of machine with better
quality yarn.
To improve or increase the ratio of quality to
cost.
In order to meet the customer expectations for
the quality of yarn.
CHAPTER TWO
FACTORS AFFECTING YARN QUALITY
we are governed into three major factors
These are:
Men
Material
Machine
Note .we are focused on material and
machine
QUALITY AFFECTED BY MATERIAL
Yarn which serves as a raw material.
The most important characteristics of yarn :
Yarn appearance
Yarn count
Yarn twist
Yarn strength
factors affecting Yarn appearance
Yarn irregularity
CONTD…..
Nippiness

Fiber hairiness
Fiber fineness

Factor affecting yarn count

Moisture

Fiber length

Factor affecting yarn twist

Fineness of fiber
Speed of front roller
Factor affecting yarn strength
Staple length
Fiber fineness
Fiber strength
Evenness
Fiber length distribution
Quality affected by machine
Drafting
It influences mainly evenness and strength. The
following draft limit have been established to
improve yarn quality .
CONTD….
Carded cotton—upto35
Carded blends---up to40
Combed cotton and blends(medium count)—
upto40
Combed cotton and blends(fine count)—upto45
METHODOLOGY
Referring relevant text book and internet

REASONS FOR PRODUCING UNINVITED YARN

The machines are old.

The driving tapes are worn out.
The roller’s rubber cots are used for along period
of time and not changed.
The aprons are worn out.
The anti balloon devices, like lappet and
separators are not available.
The front roller delivery speed is less.
The fiber length is short.
The fineness of the fiber is not good or coarser.
CONCLUSSION
As it discussed,Bahir Dar Textile Share Company
produced a yarn which has lower quality in term
of twist, count and strength. But when
comparing count with the remain two parameters
it is produced some what between the standard
values.
When the factory produced uninvited yarn, the
customer decreases from time to time and
number of worker reduced.
RECOMMENDATION

Replacing worn out parts, like aprons, rubber cot

and driving tapes,
