Carson City Hospital tohost Labor Day Community Walk
CARSON CITY – Does the Macki-nac Bridge Labor Day Walk sound like agood idea … yet it’s too far away for youto participate? This year, you won’t needto travel all the way to St. Ignace to join inMichigan’s Labor Day walking tradition.Carson City Hospital will be hosting a La-bor Day Community Walk to help encour-age active behavior in the community.Carson City Hospital is organizing aCommunity Walk on Labor Day – Mon-day, Sept. 6 – at West Park in Carson City beginning at 9 a.m. as part of the LaborDay Community Walks that are heldthroughout the state in conjunction withthe Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk. There is no charge to attend the walk, andno pre-registration is required. Commu-nity Walks help provide a similar experi-ence to residents unable to participate inthe annual walk across the Mighty Mac.“A physically active community meansa healthier community,” said Bruce Tra-verse, FACHE, President and CEO of Carson City Hospital. “We hope everyonetakes advantage of the wonderful oppor-tunity to enjoy Carson City’s beautiful
West Park while walking your way to t
-ness and health.”Carson City is one of several Michigancommunities holding a Labor Day Com-munity Walk. Walks like this are impor-tant steps toward helping citizens leadhealthier, more physically active lives. By hosting local walks, Michigan communi-ties are able to demonstrate their com-mitment to healthy living, physical activ-ity and community involvement.“By holding local events all across thestate, we hope to double or even triplethe number of walkers on Labor Day andbring attention to the importance of phys-ical activity for the health of Michigan,”explains Marilyn Lieber, president andCEO of the Governor’s Council on Physi-cal Fitness, Health and Sports. For more information please visit
