‘Live your Life’
“know that life is hard
But why take him
away
Now he simply watches over us
As we live our lives in disarray
How dowe see through his eyes?
It’s never easy just to live your life
Live your life”

Above, Michael Bayer practices with
members of Back at Goliad, a local
rock group. The band is made up of
local friends who continued to prac-
tice and perform after the loss of
bandmate Aubrey Fariss in a vehicle
accident last year.

Special to the Leader
They don't have a studio or major label - yet. Such
things linger in their minds on Sunday afternoons when
the band practices in a tiny upstairs room at the Round
Rock home where two of its members, Michael Bayer
and Lance McLaury, live.
For any band getting its start, the possibility of
snagging a major label - and signing to it - might be
as near as its next gig, or maybe the next, or the next.
The members of Back at Goliad hope their next show
is the one that edges them closer to that moment.
They'll play and compete in a Battle of the Bands
from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Red Seven, 611 E.
6th St. in Austin. They'll be going head-to-head with
six other bands vying for the chance to advance to a
final round and compete for $500, 20 hours of studio
time and submission to a major record label
