about me...

Initially destined for a cabinet maker vocation, I have always been fascinated by design.
I joined an industrial product design course at L’Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique (France) in 2004. This program
became a transition in my career as I wanted to become a furniture and interior designer, while continuing to use my
skills as a cabinet maker. I made it a point to focus on the design process, sketch ideation, concept development,
as well as 3D modeling.
I was fortunate to continue into the Design and Visualisation Master’s course at Birmingham Institute of Art and
Design (England), where I learned about strategic design, ermerging technologies and manufacturing processes,
people-centered design and storytelling.

I was able to apply my skill set and gain four years of practical design experience through various companies like
DesignTouch (Global design company), Bains & Decoration (Luxurious Furniture and Interior Design) and Aker Yards
(International Shipbuilding Group).

I enjoy designing sustainable products, since this is what first attracted me to product design. But what really interests
me is looking for design opportunities in areas that are relatively untouched, looking at society and environment;
designing products and interior spaces that solves existing problems and create innovative solutions.
I believe that my background as a cabinet maker gives me valuable skills in problem identification, analysis and
innovative solutions. When looking for inspiration, I often look at nature as a primary resource. And who better
designer than mother nature.

GUEST BATHROOM

Client:
An airline pilot passionated in yatching
and living actually in Pornic, a french
marina.

Ideation:
The aim of this project was to design
a cosy environment with high-end
finishes inspired from yacht cabins.
The main problem was the flooring
space available with only 2.1 meters
square. Moreover, the guest bathroom
had to integrate a lot of fittings:
shower, toilet, wash-hand basin,
storage space and a radiator.

Materials:
Walls - grey tinted oak and amber
sully stone.
Flooring - light sully stone.
Ceiling - lacquered mdf.

Horizontal lines make the space

appear wider. Also they are related to
a sense of steadiness, relaxation and
inactivity.

REAL ESTATE AGENCY

BEFORE
Client:
A real estate agency called GUEFFIER
IMMOBILIER and located in Pornic, a
french marina.

Ideation:
The client was looking for a bright
and spacious-looking space with a
maritime colouring.
Consequently, I decided to design
an open-space in the main area
(reception, waiting area and few
desktops) and five offices with full
glazed partitions. A meeting and
archive room were dissimulated at the
back of the agency.

Materials and finishes:

Furniture - oak and aluminium
Walls - chocolate and blue pastel
Flooring - openspace: chocolate
bronzed tiling - offices: clear sisal
carpet
Ceiling - white

Design a scenography through 10

and the history of aircraft industry.

HAIRDRESSER SALON

Client:
Marc Réthoré (Pornichet-FRANCE).

Aim:
Build luxury and very cheap.

Project:
The salon is divided in three different
spaces: entrance, hairstyle and wash
area.
To vehiculate a high-end finish to the
salon it was decided to use chocolate
and white formica on the furniture.
Using mood lights, the environment
diffuses a sensation of calm, heat and
rest.
The furniture are made of particle
boards and covered with formica. A
cheap solution for a low budget.

TCUP:
Problem: Actually Denby’s Jet range uses a stoneware clay (heavy and strong). Consequently their products are heavy to Tea cup for elderly people
hold (290g for the teacup with a water capacity of 260g; total weight= 550g). The future product will have to solve
this problem of weight, offering a new holding system and ergonomic solutions, answering the needs of young Brief:

Mock-ups: Research of a new holding system regarding the existing product. It was decided to integrate two handles on the
tea cup to get a ‘good weight distribution.

Rapid prototyping: After modeling the desired product on SOLIDWORKS, the pieces were manufactured using the rapid prototyping
technology.

Casting: Afterwards, the two handles were casted with some plaster to produce a mould for the clay. It took 4 hours to
create the mould and a full day to dry

Assembly: Once the handles were casted with some clay; they are glued on the main body of the tea cup. 11

Final outcome

Packaging: To protect the product on the display; I decided to create a packaging made of cardboard. The template was cutted
out using the laser cutting technology and the graphic were silk-screen printed.

Final outcome: The packaging is eco-friendly and designed to be assembled without any glue. Strong against transportation. 12

Problem: Most of the existing packaging are disposable and do not have any second life. Today, sustainable designs are
primordial to reduce the amount of waste in our bin.

HIYA:
Multifunctional eco light bulb
packaging

Brief:
Come up with a slick packaging
solution for an existing
product that can be bought
in retail. Combine innovation
& sustainability, whilst taking
complexity out. And leave the
lowest environmental footprint
possible.

Problem:
Ideation: Beyond the packaging, HIYA is also a product and can be used as a ceiling lamp-shade. HIYA is made of Light bulb packaging is
cardboard and painted with an ecological ink. a basic consumable only
designed to protect the light
bulb regarding transportation.
It has no secondary utility and
is fully disposable.

Branding: I decided to create a very simple logo, avoiding additional graphics that could be misunderstood by the customer.
SOMNYS comes from SOMNUS the latin god of sleep. In term of marketing strategy, I decided to combine this
name with a swedish sound that could refers to famous scandinavian designers and IKEA.

Purchasing SOMNYS is only available for online shopping. An E-commerce website has been created especially for this product;
process: customers will be able to pay via Paypal. It is to reduce the costing for the customer; regarding S. Pradhan (2009)
furniture works on a high profit margin (between 28 and 40%).
