An 84 year young at heart, Australian man,
was in the news off recentfor saving lives of many a people contemplating suicide from a steep cliff known as ³theCliff´ at the entrance to Sydney harbor. Don Ritchielives across the street from the mostfamous suicide spot in Australia: A cliff known as "The Gap." Most people would move, but Ritchie's stayed for almost 50 years²saving an estimated 160 people from suicide, but he says he never counts how many people he has saved. A simple man who retired as a life insurance salesman, saving lives of many with asimple smile. A lot of us would wonder«.. with a smile? Well it was all a smile. Whenasked his big secret behind being a savior he simply replies he just gives them a warmsmile, asks if they'd like to talk and invites them back to his house for tea. Sometimes,they join him. He further says "I'm offering them an alternative, really," Ritchie says. "Ialways act in a friendly manner. I smile." What touched me most was a confession of a 19 year young man who committed suicide.The young man who survives the suicide which left his handicapped for life later says,that he was so upset, desperate and bitter, pacing up and down the area near this steepcliff, praying bitterly and anticipating someone would come up and ask his just what wastroubling him which would help him refrain from suicide. After pacing up and down thearea for 45 minutes, a lady tourist does approach him, but with a request only to click her picture while she posed. Minutes later he jumps from the cliff. He survives the
