the need for Child Health policies and programmes on the basis of public health andeconomic benefits which accrue from investing in Child Health.
Provide technical assistance to MoH on technical matters related to Child Health, withemphasis on Integrated Management of Childhood Illness, Essential Newborn Care,Community IMCI, Baby Friendly Hospitals, Hospital Care for Children. This includestechnical assistance to MoH in building capacity at various levels and quality monitoring ofprogrammes.
Assist in adaptation of WHO guidelines, tools and training materials at the country level anduse these materials in training, and assist in the development of training programmes.
Provide orientation to counterparts on important international developments in the area ofChild Health in Indonesia, and assure a flow of information about developments inIndonesia to RO and HQ.
Liaise with donors, development partners (bilateral and UN) and civil society, to harmonizeWHO recommendations on policies and strategies relating to child health, and providetechnical support in development of Child Health programmes to all stakeholders inIndonesia.
Prepare background material and participate in inter-agency working group meetings andworkshops, and strengthen inter-agency collaboration and liaise with externalsupporting/donor partner agencies.
Assist in mobilizing more resources for the MoH/WHO collaborative programme in the areaof Child Health.
Promote carrying out operational research projects on priority areas of Child Health, incollaboration with WHO CC, national research institutes and disseminating new researchfindings.
Provide support to monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness, including the reviewand synthesis of information for Child Health fact sheet, quality coverage of services forChild Health.
Undertake any other tasks/duties as may be assigned by WR-Indonesia.Achievement activities include:- Good implementation of MoH/WHO collaborative programme in the area of Child Health- WHO recommendations on Child Health are incorporated into national health policies andstrategies- Additional resource mobilized for Child Health- Regular monitoring and evaluation on Child Health programme
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Essential
: Medical degree from a recognized university.
Desirable
: Post-graduate training in paediatrics, public health or related field.
Functional Skills and Knowledge:
1) Thorough knowledge of the country’s needs and priorities in the area of child health;2) Good communication skills;3) Proficiency in use of computer (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations);4) Ability to work in harmony with national/international staff
Desirable
:1) Have a public health perspective2) Good administrative knowledge of the functioning of MoH of Indonesia and other relateddepartments/agencies
